"El niño pez" is definitely worth watching, but I think it's a bit more difficult to enjoy than XXY. I'd cautiously say it's a very South American movie: it has magical realism, some dream-like cinematography, veers into excess/telenovela-worthy scenes at the end. Or maybe not so much more difficult to enjoy as to not see as a sort of guilty pleasure. Especially since it has lesbians. Know what I mean? :D
